Instructions to authors


General

The Yearbook of the Estonian Mother Tongue Society publishes peer-reviewed primary research papers in the Estonian and Finnish languages. Papers dealing with any aspect of Estonian and Finnic linguistics are welcome on a fully international basis. The submitted manuscripts should meet the following requirements.
The title should be concise and informative. The arrangement of words is important for indexing purposes. A short running title should be provided.
The abstract (70–150 words) should be a self-contained summary of the paper, presenting concisely the objectives of the work reported, methodology, results, and conclusions. Citations in the abstract should be avoided. The abstract should be followed by keywords (max seven). The manuscript should include also a summary in English and address(es), e-mail address(es), and telephone numbers of the author(s).
The volume of the manuscript (incl. references, summaries, illustrations, and tables) is preferably no more than 35,000 – 40,000 characters (without spaces).

The Mother Tongue Society (Emakeele Selts) is the copyright holder of all the accepted papers. The authors and their employers retain full rights to reuse their material for their own purposes.


Submission

An electronic version and a hard copy of the manuscript must correspond exactly to one another. Manuscripts should be submitted in RTF in accordance with the submission guidelines on the web page of the Mother Tongue Society (http://www.emakeeleselts.ee/). For fully electronic submission consult the Editor.


Proofs

The author (or the corresponding author) will receive a set of proofs as a printout or a pdf file for correction printer’s errors. No changes are allowed, nor can any new material be inserted in the text at the time of proofreading
