The article deals with Russian loanwords in the dialect of the Surgut Khanty and the linguistic mechanisms of their adoption. The contamination and the purism are considered as two important trends that will shape the further development of the Surgut dialect. Three stages of the borrowings from Russian in the Surgut dialect are determined and characterized. The article also discusses problems connected with the standardization of the dialect of the Surgut Khanty.
