This article provides empirical data concerning the prosody of the Moksha language: it evaluates the effect of the position of stress, the characteristics of word structure, and the position of a word in an utterance upon the temporal relationship between the syllable nuclei. Acoustical analyses were carried out using a set of target words embedded in frame sentences, which were read by eight speakers of Central Moksha. As an extension to the main part of the analysis, a comparison of the data for Moksha and results obtained earlier in an analogous study of the temporal characteristics of vowels in Erzya is offered.
